Town Head Estate is one of the Lake District’s most exciting and versatile wedding venues, set within private grounds overlooking Windermere with panoramic views across the surrounding fells. Wedding pianist Craig Smith has been performing at Town Head Estate since shortly after the venue opened in 2021 and has been recommended by staff there since. It has quickly become one of his favourite venues, with live piano perfectly suited to each part of the day across the estate’s unique spaces.

Live Piano at Your Town Head Estate Wedding

Having worked regularly at Town Head Estate since its early days, Craig has developed a detailed understanding of how the venue flows and how best to position live music across its different spaces. With multiple locations used throughout the day, a two-piano setup is always provided, allowing music to move seamlessly without interruption.

Ceremonies are typically held either in the barn or the Boat House, both providing memorable settings for live piano as guests take their seats and the entrance approaches. There are also several idyllic spots for outdoor ceremonies, and piano is available for those too — just make sure there's power available. Craig's favourite spot to play is the Lake View Terrace on a sunny day.

Guests’ arrivals and drinks reception music usually takes place from the decking or within the marquee, and occasionally in the bar lounge; each space offers a different atmosphere before the day moves up into the barn for the wedding breakfast. Guests to spread out a little on sunny days, so positioning the piano on the deck means music carries to the marquee and down onto the lawn too.

Craig’s portable baby grand pianos are ideal for the barn, marquee and outdoor decking, where they provide both a strong visual feature and clear, balanced sound. For more compact indoor areas such as the Boat House and lounge, a white electric piano offers a practical and elegant alternative, ensuring the same high standard of performance in every setting.
